Bring On The Dancing Girls

Back in the eighties we were commissioned to make a programme about a Scottish company who built a robot designed to mimic the movement of a human arm and hand. The idea was that it could be used to lift heavy loads and move them around very precisely.

To demonstrate its precision and manoeuvrability, someone in the production team (no names!) came up with a scenario which has become memorable for all its politically incorrect reasons.

We hired a troop of dancers and choreographed a robotic style dance routine which saw girls lifting and moving boxes around to represent a production line.

Meanwhile the huge robotic arm was filmed making tea!!

A role reversal of a (stereo)type you just wouldn’t get away with these days!
